Is There Visibility Into Which Retailers Are Being Sampled for Non-Retailer Specific Convenience Geographies?

Circana does not share lists of the retailers being sampled for projected, non-RMA convenience geographies like Texas-Conv, but clues are available.

In Circana's non-RMA convenience geographies, nearly three-fourths of every dollar is based on projection. This means a fairly small sample is being used to project for a wide area.

Circana doesn't provide any simple way to see which convenience retailers share their scan data with Circana, meaning they will not provide lists of the retailers being sampled for geographies like Atlanta-Conv, Texas-Conv, etc.

Our workaround is to use this Multi Outlet Universe guide, which places a double asterisk (**) next to the convenience retailers which are census, meaning they send Circana their data, therefore they are not projected for.

Some retailers, such as 7-11, are "restricted", meaning that we aren't able to obtain RMA geographies for 7-11 to get a direct view into their sales. See more about the various retailer restrictions here. Despite those restrictions, since 7-11 is marked as census in the Multi Outlet Universe guide, their data would be included in a state or market level geography like Texas-Conv where locations exist for this retailer.
